Steve has over 35 years of experience serving people experiencing depression, anxiety, loss, grief, trauma, substance abuse problems, and sexual behavior problems. He has a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy with a minor in Theology from Xavier University. His Master of Arts Degree in Psychology is also from Xavier University.

Franciscan education and the practice of Tai Chi have been central to the development of Steve’s approach to treatment. He is also very interested in the integration of psychological techniques with spiritual practice, especially within the framework of contemplative prayer. His therapy experience has allowed him the good fortune to work with individuals from a variety of different faiths. He is especially concerned for those who may have experienced wounding within those contexts.

Steve has a great deal of experience working with adults both individually and in couple’s therapy. He also provides family therapy, group therapy, and especially enjoys working with teens. Interventions include Motivational Interviewing and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. He also utilizes interventions that focus on breath work, grounding, posture, body awareness, and movement.

Steve is a Psychology Assistant, working under the supervision of Bill Cahalan, Ph.D.
