Suicide Risk Assessment and Prevention

Knowing how to be present with someone so depressed or alone they are actually considering suicide is one of the greatest challenges a person can face. This seminar will provide information on the challenges, fears, worst case scenarios and predicaments of suicide risk. It will provide clear and meaningful data on assessing suicide risk. It will also address how to handle the situation calmly and effectively without overwhelming the caregiver.
- Attendees will identify three small steps to assessing level of risk.
- Attendees will interact to determine an effective assessment of the person’s risk for suicide.
- Attendees will define three new risk factors.
Sandy is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor, a Clinically Certified Forensic Counselor and a Registered Nurse. She was the owner/founder of Creative Counseling Center in Madeira which she ran for ten years. She now works for PPI in Kenwood as a Clinical Counselor and Supervisor. She has taught on a variety of topics at local, state and national levels. Sandy is a graduate of UC with a Bachelor’s in Nursing and of Xavier with a Master’s in Counseling.
